Sarah's First Post

Hey Everyone!

Just letting you know I am now officially a co-author and this is my first post.

We have a few hours still before our next war starts! Good luck all! I suppose I will update this post and add in some defense options.

Edits:

After war I will be posting the bases that gave up the least stars in both clans.

 Town Hall 8 War Bases
Last updated 09/23/14 28:14

I am having difficulty finding recent posts after the hero updates.

This guy claims that his base is good for defense against dragon attacks. The clan castle is centralized so that it is difficult to lure out clan castle troops. The post only lists three experiences, one in which he defended against a level 2 dragon attack, another in which he got two-starred. This was posted back in May. A poster in June said they were three-starred in two different wars with a mixture of troops, so it's definitely not perfect, but it seems that it defends well against dragons and hogs.

On that same thread, many people talked about this layout on the clash of clans forum. Again, the centralized clan castle makes it impossible to draw out clan castle troops first. It's supposed to be good against hogs and balloons. The poster said it is somewhat weak against a barbarian and archer army. This was posted in March.

This is the basic layout.

The layout they suggest for clan wars

One poster said "For clan wars, I put my Barb King, teslas and [air defenses] in the core with the CC and the town hall. I've never been three starred by dragons (only levels 1-3). By putting the teslas in the core I had spacing issues I needed to address, which leaves two big gaps in the core. These gaps have saved me multiple times because the dragons fly out of the core.

In addition, these gaps could be double giant bombs so hoggers may skip the base due to thinking bombs are in the core. I get two starred a lot, even by level one dragons but I've never been three starred and I'm fine with that."

However, there's another poster right above him that says he was three-starred by a dragon army. I guess it depends on luck as well.

I've also been looking at this site. It looks like it has pretty good attack strategies to try out that might be worth reading for attacking TH8's and TH9's and it has one TH8 base that looks alright. It is also supposedly weak to a strong barbarian-archer attack. This is also the most recently posted base I found.

Hopefully this helps as you look for the best town hall 8 layout for you.

This is my first war with a Town Hall 8. I am a big fan of encircling each and every defense, so I might check out how that works for me first.

Town Hall 7 War Bases

I asked Bdon what he normally does for his war base. He says he usually just looks up "clash of clans layout" on google and tries the first one that comes up. So that's an option. :)

Here's a popular TH7 war base from the wikia.
The biggest con seems to be that it could be pretty easily 50%'d, but the "spaced-out-ness" is supposed to help keep clan castle troops from being lured.

I don't really trust this site, since the top-rated war base is a bat and I think the next highest-rated is an islam symbol? Anyway this was the top-rated TH 7 base on there. They don't have a picture, it's some kind of flash program.
